Junior Kindergarten - Registration

If your child was born in 2020 or 2021, they are eligible to register for Junior Kindergarten for the 2024/2025 school year.

Register your child for Junior Kindergarten using the New Student Registration Form on the GYPSD website.

Online registration is open!

Please remember to select 2024/2025 New Student Registration.

JK spaces are limited. They are assigned in the order that registrations are received. Register ASAP to avoid disappointment. After completing the online registration process, you will receive a confirmation email. Please keep this email for your records. Call the school to ensure that we have received your child's registration. Once a class is full, new registrations will be placed on a waiting list. If your child is currently registered in JK3 at Sheldon Coates, you will need to re-register them for JK4 in 2024/2025.

Special Note for PUF Parents: If your JK child is currently in our PUF program, they are guaranteed a place in JK4 or K in 2024/2025. We will reach out to you to confirm. Students currently approved for PUF will register for JK4 or K via the Returning Student Verification process in the spring.

Welcome to Junior Kindergarten at Sheldon Coates!

We plan to offer the following JK classes in 2024/2025:

  • JK3 (2021 cohort) Tue/Thu mornings $140/month
  • JK3/4 (Combined 2020 and 2021 cohort) Tue/Wed/Thu afternoons $150/month

Please Note: Actual fees payable for these programs are expected to be even less due to an affordability grant! Watch for more information in the near future!

Our Philosophy

Sheldon Coates Junior Kindergarten strives to create a learning environment that is calm, welcoming, and is one that allows children to create and explore.  Our programming encourages learning through play with a focus on the integration of fine arts, nature, rich oral language, and literacy experiences in an inclusive environment. The program aspires to help each child build a sense of curiosity and wonder for the world around them.

The Child

Sheldon Coates Junior Kindergarten will ensure that the developmental needs of your child are met including their physical, social, intellectual, creative and emotional needs. These needs will be met through daily physical activity; modeling of appropriate and respectful behaviour; snack time conversation; opportunities for children to feel challenged and make decisions/choices; opportunities to be creative through painting, crafting, singing, dancing, fine motor activities, playdough, water play, sand play, and dramatic play; staff will always be respectful of your child’s emotions and allow your child to feel safe to express themselves in our program. Children will be encouraged to be kind to their friends and teachers will model relationship building skills.
